NORM Handling

Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials Handling as its name suggests, is a hazardous activity. TBS Contract Services follows specialized work instructions to handle NORM to ensure the health of personnel is protected and that the environment is not impacted.

TBS Contract Services has purpose design and built storage and transport equipment for NORM contaminated material. Additionally, we have testing equipment that monitors radiation levels. Our employees have been trained and assessed in the use of this test equipment, as well as the handling, transport and disposal requirements of NORM contaminated material.

The main types of NORM in oil and gas installations are scale, sludge, sand and thin film deposits of adon decay products. Their occurrence depends on certain reservoir parameters and can be triggered by water flooding a reservoir.
